Learn about where your food comes from ... and have FUN

If you want to find out more about your food and where it comes from, this tour is for you. James is a fourth-generation family farmer who will lead attendees through the orchard. As he does so, he describes all of the steps that go into producing his cherries and how he tries to harness Mother Nature whenever possible. This may mean planting cover crops that attract good bugs that eat bad bugs instead of spraying insecticides. He also talks about the different varieties, since there is more to cherries than just Bings. What's cool about this tour is you get in an hour before the general public. It's kind of like getting early entry to Disney Land where you have full access to the rides before the gates open. The tour price includes 1 pound of cherries you get to pick. And did I mention you get to sample as you pick - no charge. I went on the tour for the first time last year, and I've already made a reservation for this year. I learned so much and am amazed by everything that goes into producing one of those nice red juicy pieces of fruit. Plus I came home with a big bag of cherries that were about as fresh as they come since I picked them myself.
